“Change the language, change the stigma.”
Our next workshop, “Change the Language, Change the Stigma”, is booked for the 16th of September in the Innovation Centre with Hannah Murtagh! Make sure to sign up quick for this free in person event.
The focus will be on the language we use when promoting Mental Health within organisations; concentrating on stigmas attached to words rather than meanings and asking if we can change perceptions through the language we use.
Check out some reviews below of those who have previously attended the event;
“FitHead delivered a bespoke workshop for our staff. The topic was around stigma and the language we use when talking about mental health. The training was really engaging, appropriately paced, and interesting. I would highly recommend Hannah as a facilitator; she led the workshop brilliantly and there was really positive feedback from staff. I plan to book more workshops with FitHead in the future.”
Christina Murphy, Mental Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinator, Queens’ Student’s Union.
On the session –
“Great mix of group work, activities and a relaxed environment that allowed honest, open dialogue”
“Very interactive – got us on our feet and got us thinking, created good energy and interaction”
“Very easy to understand the trainers’ techniques, I came away being more aware of certain words and language and how they can be interpreted”
Learning outcomes –
“Language is constantly evolving and different words mean different things to different people so be mindful of the words I use”
“That language and words and the interpretation of them can be completely different depending on the circumstances, tone and way they are used”
“How we have to be more considerate when using certain language to describe a person or situation”
